What options are open to me if I want to integrate Curatr with my LMS / intranet / Sharepoint etc?

Hi Tara, I'd love to say that I 'knew' the following info off the top of my head, but I've sneakily copied it from one of our Best Practice pages....

In many businesses, Curatr works alongside an existing Learning Management System (LMS). It’s not a case of choosing a Social Learning platform over an LMS; quite often the two do very different jobs. Here are five ways that we can link Curatr to your existing LMS:

    1. Linking Integration

Our most lightweight option is to simple link directly to your LMS. Curatr allows you to embed any URL as a Learning Object within a Curatr course. If you can ‘deeplink’ directly to your LMS (and most can), you can add a piece of LMS-tracked content directly into Curatr, which to your users will appear seamless.

It works best for organisations who have most staff on a single site, or on an Active Directory type system, whereby logging into a workstation also logs the user into the LMS. That way, there’s no messy login procedure when you hit the LMS. Integrating in this way means it works out of the box – no technical input required at either end.

    2. Single Sign On (SSO) Integration

Sometimes it isn’t suitable to just do a linking integration. This often occurs with offsite LMS deployments, where the user has to manually login to the LMS before starting their activity. However, the good news about this sort of LMS is that they tend to work very well with Single Sign On (SSO) procedures, as integration is a key part of what they do.

Adding Learning Objects works exactly as above, but you’ll need the SSO in place for it to work seamlessly. We can work with your LMS provider and IT team to integrate Curatr to your SSO environment. We use SAML 2.0 where possible, but we’re always open to other protocols and even custom deployments.

    3. Custom API Integration

Some platforms use RESTful Web Services to communicate with third party platforms. If that is the case, we have the technical expertise to integrate with any custom API that behaves in a RESTful manner. Get in touch if you would like to explore this option further.

    4. xAPI Integration

The xAPI is a standard way of transferring learning experience information between two systems. One of the cool things about Curatr is that it has the xAPI deeply embedded within it. If your LMS can take xAPI tracking input, then all you need to do is add the endpoint to the config. If your LMS can’t track the xAPI, you can use a Learning Record Store to do the tracking for you.

    5. CSV Output

Want to upload tracking data from Curatr to your LMS, but don’t have the capability to do a Web Service integration? No problem; you can export all tracking data from Curatr directly to CSV for upload into a 3rd party LMS.
