The main change you will see right now is the new Orientation for new users. The Orientation asks a series of questions in order to make specific, personalised recommendations of Focus Areas for them.
If the user wishes to be given another set of Focus Areas, the orientation can also be accessed again via the Reports page. Additionally, it will be triggered when the Learner finishes all their assigned Focus Areas, giving them the opportunity to be given a new set of Focus Areas.
Note: Any Focus Areas an organisation has added themselves won’t be recommended by the engine, but it will be available in the full list for them to pick from (they have an option to SHOW ALL) or can be assigned by the organisation.
There are a series of questions like this:
Then, at the end, the recommendations are made:
These recommendations will then be added to the dashboard if selected. Any Focus Areas previously chosen (if re-taking), or assigned by the organisation will already populate the dashboard:
If a user wishes to re-take this Orientation (for example, when changing job or CPD focus), they can access it in Reports via the New Skill Assessment button.
For Pro users:
If an organisation opts for their own Focus Areas entirely (as part of the Pro package) they will choose new Focus Areas from the dashboard instead of going through these questions (they are specific to our Focus Areas)
They have the option of working with us to develop a suitable set of questions to form a custom recommendation engine - using our content, theirs, or both.
Note: This will always require a period of planning, consultancy, and testing.
Recommended Learning Experiences:
The Recommendation Engine also powers the prioritisation of the Learning Experiences that the user is presented with as recommended - this will start to change with time as data builds up in the system. It will draw on multiple factors to assign a ‘weighting’ to each resource, for that individual, and prioritise it accordingly in their list of recommendations.
More information on this will follow in the next release - there won’t be a significant change for users right now until data starts to build up. Our own weightings will provide the ‘starting score’ for each item in the LXP library for now.
Other UI improvements:
There are changes to the icon design, and the screen for choosing initial Learning Experiences within a Focus Area.
