Merging Stream LXP and Curatr LXP
Following the acquisition of HT2 Labs - we are combining both Learning Pool and HT2 Lab’s existing products bringing the best of both into a new version of Stream. These release notes are a bit bigger and different to normal as we’re approaching it from the view of Stream and Curatr customers, but moving forward they’ll be much more regular, and outline what is new and fixed in each release version.
What is the difference between Curatr and Stream?
To put it simply - Stream is Curatr with some enhancements and added features. We’ve taken the best bits of Stream and bolted these onto Curatr to create a compelling offering and improve on existing Curatr functionality. The new features, enhancements, and changes have all been outlined below. NEW - Advanced Search
We’ve added the ability to deep-dive directly within your content thanks to Advanced Search. This means that we can search within your documents and courses and point learners directly to the right place, enabling them to get to the point of learning as quickly as possible.
If you have Advanced Search turned on (speak to your Account Manager or Learning Consultant for more info), then when you search on Stream, it looks inside documents and courses and pulls back these as results from your search. You’re also able to see ‘Content Matches’ which shows the matches within your content for your search term, and enables you to jump right into an exact point in the content.

NEW - Chatbot - Flo
We’ve added Flo - Learning Pool’s friendly chatbot, as a new addition to Curatr customers. Your learners will have the ability to interact with Flo using natural language (rather than robot speak) through workplace communication tools such as Microsoft Teams or Slack. You’re able to use Flo to search across all of your content, ask what learning needs to be completed and launch content directly from within the chat window.

Changes to the look & feel
Dashboard / Login User Journey
We have made some changes to the ‘Dashboard’ when you login to Stream, so there will be a few changes depending on what your setup was like on Curatr. Our primary focus is to create a more engaging UI that is easier for learners to use and provide greater control over Learning Experience settings. Our aims with the new Dashboard UI is to:
- Reduce the number of clicks required to find engaging & relevant Learning Experiences to learn now & next
- Ensure that the new UI is accessible from the start
- Utilise a modern ‘Netflix’-style UI
- Provide more detailed Learning Experience information directly from the dashboard
- Give you a new ‘My Plan’ stream and page
Note: If you currently have a custom homepage, this will re-direct to the right pages. If you would like to discuss any other changes with us or remove the homepage now, please get in touch if we have not already spoken. We’re happy to help advise if you’re not sure what is best for your design considering the new changes.
New login flow:
- User goes to login page - enters login details
- Logged in and taken to ‘Dashboard’ page - showing a stream for each Focus Area that’s available and the Learning Experiences that are available in that Focus Area
- If your organisation is not using Focus Areas, they will see courses they are enrolled in ‘My Plan’, and available (ie Public) courses in the next stream.
Note: If you are not yet using the new functionality around Focus Areas and Learning Experiences, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to help - there is no extra cost to using this.

- User goes to login page - enters login details
- Logged in and taken to ‘Dashboard’ showing Focus Areas / Asked to complete Skill Assessment if the first time.
Note: If ‘Develop’ is not yet enabled in your org, the users will not be asked to take a skill assessment.
NEW - Single Dashboard (previously ‘Learn’ and ‘Develop’)
As a result of your feedback, and more and more of your using both ‘Courses’ and ‘Develop’ functionality, we have unified the Dashboard for learners.
The dashboard changes will be applied to all organisations. If you have requested to retain the ‘legacy course view’ we will do that for you at point of release, it will also be available as a toggle for administrators. We expect to maintain this for about 6 months only - if you need help planning for/communicating the new UI please get in touch.
General overview of the dashboard changes / stream:
New ‘My Plan’ stream:
All Courses and Focus Areas that a user in enrolled in and/or has added to their plan will appear in ‘My Plan’.
They will appear by order of date.
Overdue items will appear with a RED date.
Note: Due dates can now be set for all content by administrators (see below.)
As per current functionality, a user has the option to override this date themselves in order to organise their learning. (They can’t set a due date that is AFTER the close date for a course).
‘View All’ will open the whole plan and show everything in it, completed items will show as a separate, grey and green row. They can be re-opened. If the content is still accessible, they can access again. If not, a message will explain that (as per current course functionality.)
NEW - ‘Streams’ design
Each Focus Area now appears as a stream to ensure the content (Learning Experiences) within are more visible and accessible.
‘View all’ opens a view nearly identical to the current view inside a Focus Area.
As per current functionality, users still create plans by adding recommendations to their plans, but now via the ‘i’ button.
Learners are also able to add Learning Experiences of their own (no change), via ‘Add a Learning Experience’.
On completion, learners are prompted to rate and reflect.
Note: We’ve now extended this functionality to Courses too.
Reports and Archive
No change, but access under the Profile picture. The ‘Develop’ report is now available via the Profile drop down, but the functionality is the same. I can view my progress, tutor/admin feedback, and Export.
Archived Focus Areas are accessible from the same menu (see below.)
Admin User Interface and new functionality
A few of the menu items have been renamed to make it easier to find what you’re looking for:
- Courses has been renamed to Learning Experiences.
- Develop has been renamed to Focus Areas.
The most significant upgrade to functionality, based on your feedback, is the ability to add the same functionality we already had for Curatr Courses to any kind of Learning Experience.
This has resulted in some changes to the flow when creating Learning Experiences, and enhancements to the reporting, enrolment, roles etc functionality.
There are no changes to the way in which Focus Areas are created.
Creating Learning Experiences
Courses are now just one type of Learning Experience. They all have the same functionality in general, but features like commenting are ‘off’ by default for simpler activity types (to enable quick creation).
Admin > Learning Experiences > New Learning Experience
Choose from the drop-down menu:
Add your detail on the next screen - if you don’t want to use any of the additional functionality like date setting, leave it blank:
Tip: You can add a Resource here if you chose to - as per any Curatr Object - adding the Resource from the library, or a new resource, or a UGC object.
You can also add XP, Comments, etc.
Note: When a user chooses this to add to their plan, they are ‘enrolled’ (as per current course functionality).
You can also choose to make it secret and assign it instead (as per current course functionality)
You can also now set an image for any Learning Experience:
Settings > Image Settings > LX Image
Note: You can set new images for your LX display in advance of the new release (see below). If you choose not to, the current course image will crop to size (generally fine unless you have text across the full width) and any other Learning Experiences will revert to the icons currently in use. You can also go and change them at any time after the release.
Your new Learning Experience is now available in Search, or for you to assign to Focus Area, or Group, or Individual (as per current course functionality.)
Tip: You can make anything ‘Secret’ which means it won’t be found in Search, and users are unable to add it to their plan - it can only be assigned.
ALL of your Learning Experiences will now appear in the general reporting and you can order by type in the middle column:
NEW - ‘Quick Launch’ content type
There is also one change in the flow to create a ‘traditional’ Curatr course. You now have the option to add a ‘Quick Launch’ content type.
Based on your feedback, we have added this to facilitate quick launch and tracking of e-learning objects (ie course-sized single packages). For example, you can now go directly into a 20-minute Adapt course - it doesn’t need to be created as an object within a level, within a course.
Comments are optional (as per all standard course types.)
Go to Learning Experiences (previously ‘Courses’ in the top navigation)- New Learning Experience-Add an Online Course, and you will see the new option alongside ‘Linear’, ‘Non-Linear’ and ‘Branching’ as course options.
The course will launch directly from the learner dashboard without them having to pass through the ‘Course Level’ screen.
Warning: We are planning to deprecate the ‘Classic’ course view within the next 12 months. If you are still using this view, please get in touch so we can help advise transitioning away from it.
