Using HTML to make your emails look more professional

If you'd like to make your emails look more professional you can add some simple HTML to your email body - for those of you who would normally run a mile at the thought of writing HTML(like me!), don't worry, it's really very easy.

Making text bold

If you'd like to draw people's attention to something in your email, or perhaps add some titles in your email you can do so by adding this before and after the text you wish bolden:

<b>

</b>

so this

We're pleased to announce that the <b>Getting Started</b> level of this course is now open...

becomes

We're pleased to announce that the Getting Started level of this course is now open...

Using italics

If you'd like to use italics in your email you can do so by adding this before and after the text you wish bolden:

<em>

</em>

so this

If you remember what our CEO said in his welcome video,  <em>"I'm looking for people who have one eye on the future, with the other firmly fixed on today"</em>...

becomes

If you remember what our CEO said in his welcome video, "I'm looking for people who have one eye on the future, with the other firmly fixed on today"...

Using links

If you'd like to use links in your email you can do so by adding the URL into the email along with some additional HTML to turn the descriptive text into a link:

<a href="paste the url here">your descriptive text</a>

so this

If you're interested in xAPI, why not take a look at <a href="https://www.ht2labs.com/learning-locker/">Learning Locker?</a>

becomes

If you're interested in xAPI, why not take a look at Learning Locker?
