It’s been a while since we last set a Curatr release live in the wild, and we’ve broken from our previous quarterly schedule for good reason: we’ve been working on some bumper updates to improve both the user experience/interface and the feature set/functionality that Curatr offers as standard.
We’ll be adding additional information to the Help Centre to further explain some of the changes and expanding on some of the new features on the HT2 blog too, but for now here's a taster of what's coming in the release scheduled for September 19th...
A massive step forward for Curatr, it’s now possible to move duplicated courses from your parent to within your Child Organisations! No more copy/pasting of objects or having to re-build courses from scratch, you can now create a copy of an existing course and assign it to any of your child organisations.
Once a course is duplicated you can add or edit objects, images or text content to tailor the course as for that child org. You could use this to create template courses for your clients or to build up a catalogue of content you can easily sell on.
We’ve had a number of requests to make it easier to re-purpose content and with the addition of a new Resource Library, you can now use one resource in multiple courses, for example you might have an introductory video you use in every course.
Once updated within the resource library, all versions of the resource will be updated at the same time, meaning you no longer have to check/update multiple courses that reference the same object.
Curatr has always allowed you to bulk-import users, but with our new advanced user import settings, you can now assign tags to users as part of the upload process.
Coupled with our advanced group membership options, it’s now easy to create cohorts or other groups based on user characteristics, roles, or dates (for example) without needing to manually assign tags once users are loaded into your Organisation.
We’ve seen an increasing number of existing clients and potential customers ask for LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability) features. With this release, Curatr will now be able to launch content served from compatible LTI platforms.
Tutorial Tours for Admins
Something we’ve been thinking about for a while is adding in-built tutorials to the back-end Admin area. With this latest update, Curatr Admins will now have the option to access tours of key pages in the Admin: just click the question mark (?) that appears in the upper right corner of the Admin window.
We’ve started with the new features and the areas that have changed the most. If no tour is available this button will take you to the Help Centre. If this proves as useful as we hope, we will roll it out to more areas in future.
In addition to these major changes, we’ve also resolved a number of bugs and made a number of tweaks to improve the user-friendliness of the existing features, including:
- Better Dutch translations
- More consistent admin interface
- Clearer front end user interface
- New side menu
As always, we like to respond to our customers’ feedback and if you are keen to see more LTI features, or have any other comments around this latest release we would encourage you share these with us using the comments section below.
Please Note: you'll need to be signed-in to the Help Centre in order to do this.
