As activity in a Curatr course blossoms, it can be tempting to spend large amounts of time seeing what users are doing. It is quite fun, but unless your sole responsibility is to facilitate the course, you probably have other tasks on your plate! An approach we have found helpful is to schedule your course facilitation time with the use of Curatr generated emails.
When creating a scheduled email digest, it is important to decide how frequently you want to be alerted to Comments, Course Completions, User Objects and Level Completions.
For example, during the beginning days of a busy course, you might want to send a daily email. Later on in a course, it might make more sense to send a weekly email.
Admin Area > Courses > Current Course > Emails > Digest
- Select the Type of digest to be sent.
- Set the Frequency for the digest, Daily or once a week.
- Set the time of the day the digest will be sent.
- Add the recipients. For multiple recipients seperate the addresses with commas.
Regardless of email frequency, though, you can use the digest email to trigger you into action.
Typically there are three broad areas of email you might want to send out.
- To congratulate completions
- To encourage those behind schedule
- To provide general commentary
Under Emails > Templates you can create any number of standard emails, by including the Course link in the template you will significantly increase the likelihood of users clicking on the course as a result of receiving the email.
So when prompted by an incoming email you can send emails to all users or selected users as appropriate.
With a dash of thought and a pinch of pre-planning you can provide a really efficient facilitation service within Curatr.
