We have developed a default homepage for Red Panda which focuses on supporting individuals and highlighting key actions or areas of discovery when they first land on the platform. These are present using a widget system that lets you easily customise what content you want to see on your homepage.
The default homepage has seven widgets available for the larger portion of the page feed, this is where you will see most of your suggested, and user submitted, content.
The Check-in widget will allow you to check-in your progress towards your goal from the home page, avoiding the hassel of accessing the goal directly if you are in a hurry.
Latest content will display the three most recently uploaded resources that added by you or others in your organisation.
Using the Continue working on your Journeys widget will present you with the two Journeys you have visited the least recently.
Your Activity, as the name suggests, shows activity based on your submissions such as when you view a resource, comment on someone elses content or when you check-in. On the other hand, if you want to see what other people in your organisation are doing, choose the widget Others Activity instead.
Recommended Journeys will present you with other Journeys in your organisation that are related to the Journeys you are currently doing.
Note: Journeys are suggested based around tags associated with journeys you are already doing by matching hashtags from that journey with others that exist in your Red Panda platform.
Learning Aspirations will display the your learning aspirations that you set in your profile or when you when you were onboarding.
On the left hand side of the main widgets, there are smaller widgets that are more geared towards reminders and hot-links that help making Journeys and keeping track of them easier.
- Link to Journeys
- Link to Presentation
- Recommended Content
The two Link widgets: Link to Journeys and Link to Presentation will direct you to the Journey and Presentation creation page respectively.
The Upcoming widget is a useful tool of making sure you hit your deadlines, by making you aware of when you your closest due dates are.
Selecting Recommended Content will present users with related resources based on the tags they are following (tags can be followed from the user profile settings.)
Welcome will display a message of your choice to users. This can be used as a simple hello or utilised if you want to update it regularly, a way to give users helpful tips or motivation to help with their learning.
There are also configurable areas of the default homepage, that can be edited by Admins:
- Welcome message: This can be updated in by going to Red Panda admin > Settings > Welcome Message.
- Seed questions: If you have the Seeds module turned on, you can set up questions or polls to gain insights from your users. These will then show on the homepage for users to answer. Users can skip, which will then show the next question. Skipped questions will start to re-appear, once all other questions have been either answered, or skipped.
- Widgets: If your administrators have the Select homepage drop down changed to WIDGETS, your homepage to Red Panda will be transformed into a series of widgets that help give you a high level overview of many areas of the platform. These widgets are customisable, with the following currently available to be added within Red Panda:
- Link to Journeys
- Link to Presentations
- Latest Content
- Learning Aspirations
Note: Other modules can be made to be homepages, as described by this article.
